Forever in Our Hearts

Dixie

This is my oldest sister, Dixie.  She was with us for 13.5 years.  Mom sez Dixie was a Basset Wannabe, but Dixie always said,"Hmmpphh!  I'm a Beagle and I'm PWOUD of it!  So what if I'm a bit full-figured--I'm still beautiful, too!  Mom sez so!  BIG IS BEAUTIFUL!"  Well, I guess she was right.  After all, Dixie was the Senior Hound awound here, so all of us younger Hounds had to show our wespect or she'd give us the Royal "what for!" Our Dixie is sadly missed, but she will be in our hearts always.

Daisy

Here's my next older sister, Daisy.  She is the mama of my niece, Kaylee.  Sad for me, she won't be getting any more puppies.  Darn!  Daisy and I have loud arguments sometimes, but we would never hurt each other.  She thinks she has to let me know she's my boss, and I talk back--as loud as I can!  Daisy also likes to talk to Mom a lot.  Girl talk, I guess.  Daisy will be 11 years old this year, and is getting quite gray in the face.  She gets prettier every day, though.  (Don't ever tell her I said that!)

Kaylee

Here is my niece, Kaylee.  Isn't she pretty, though?  I've known and wuvved her since the vewy day she was born!  She was the first one to figure out how to get out of the whelping box, the first one to get down the deck stairs to the yard (and the first one to get back up), and she's always the first one to get into trouble!  Kaylee and I are great buddies.  We play and play and play!  Kaylee is the only one of us Hounds who can sit right up on her widdle behind--either to look out the window or to hint for food.  When I try that, I just fall over and look stupid! (Blush)  She looks adorable when she does that, and nobody can say "No" to her.  Kaylee is seven years old now.  I'm only three months oldern her!

Here is little Kaylee

Doing her thing! Isn't this cute?

Shadow

And last but not least, here's our kitty, Shadow.  He is one very tolerant black cat!  Daisy, Kaylee and I wuv to chase Shadow, but Dixie pretty much leaves Shadow alone.  Kaylee is the worst.  She woofs at him, licks on him, nudges him--anything she can think of to get Shadow to run so she can chase him!  And good ol' Shadow puts up with it all!  He's very mellow.  He has several hidey-holes where he knows he can sleep without getting pestered too much.  We think Shadow is about 14 or 15 years old now.  Mom keeps that big bell on him to help save the birds.  She calls it his "Bird Bell" and it does a good job.  He still can catch mouses and moles, and even a chipmunk once in a while, though.
